Reach Collaborates with ACT Global to Advance Registry-Based Care

In January, Reach and ACT Global formally joined forces to advance efforts to scale registry-based care. ACT (Active Community Case Management Tool), is a cloud-based, dynamic registry for rheumatic heart disease (RHD) that was first piloted in Uganda and has since been adopted as the country’s national RHD registry.

For decades, registry-based care has been recognised as a cornerstone for RHD management, supporting both providers and patients. In 2023, the World Health Organization reinforced its importance by including registry-based care for RHD among its top 10 ‘best buys’ for non-communicable diseases. This endorsement has created strong momentum for global action, and the Reach–ACT Global partnership is well positioned to help translate that momentum into meaningful progress.

As part of the collaboration, Reach is providing strategic and operational support to the ACT Global Network, with a focus on program coordination, strategic planning, and network development, particularly across the Asia-Pacific region.

At the heart of the Reach and ACT Global partnership is a commitment to improving care and outcomes for the millions of people living with RHD worldwide. Through scaled up efforts and the generous support of Edwards Lifesciences, ACT Global aims to equip communities and clinicians with the tools and systems needed to accomplish this goal.
